FX has released a trailer for the upcoming new documentary TV show “What We Do in the Shadows”.
Just as in the documentary filmed in Wellington, New Zealand and released under the same title in 2014, the crew follows the lives of three main vampires: Nandor and a couple Nadja and Laszlo who have shared the house in Staten Island from the moment they arrived to conquer the New World over 200 years ago.
Also living with them is a fourth vampire named Colin Robinson, who’s an “energy vampire.” Instead of blood, he sucks the energy out of his victims by boring them to death with mundane anecdotes and bad jokes. The office is his feeding ground, but his powers also work on his vampire roomies.
The series is also said to focus on the vampires receiving notice that “an ancient leader vampire named the Baron is coming to pay them a visit from abroad, purportedly to see how conquering America is going.”
The series stars Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Kayvan Novak, Mark Proksch, Harvey Guillen, Doug Jones, Beanie Feldstein and Jake McDorman.
The show was created by Jemaine Clement and produced by Jemaine, Taika and Paul Simms (who previously worked with Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie on their TV show “Flight of the Conchords”).
The first 10-episode season will debut in the US on 27 March. Hopefully, it won’t be long until it is shown on the BBC. In France Canal+ premieres The Shadows on 28 March.
