Australian short film festival Flickerfest has announced its line-up. The Captain is on the list of the films taking part in the competition. It will also be the film’s world premiere before heading to Sundance.
Flickerfest has always distinguished itself from the packed local film festival circuit as being a festival that – backed by its credential as Australia’s only Academy Award accredited short film event – features the cream of the crop in terms of talent. And receiving an unprecedented number of entries this year from over 21 countries, 2013 is shaping up to be no exception.
In the Official Australian Competition category, 47 films will play including 13 world premieres and four Australian premieres. Highlights in this category include the Australian premiere of Nash Edgerton and Spencer Susser’s The Captain, which stars New Zealand’s Taika Waititi (the writer/director behind Boy) and was recently selected for Sundance.
Flickerfest will be held at Bondi Beach from January 11-20 next year and will then tour nationally until March. For more information and to check out the full program (including the documentary and GreenFlicks program), head here.
